Very successful run of the Millfield earns them the Mill Brow SC Cup

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the latter stages of the Mill Brow SC Cup took place.

In the first semi-final, the Hammer & Pincers took on the Millfield.

Ronnie Greylish gave the Millfield the first game and the early lead but not for long as Rob Sutton levelled for the Hammer.

Then came a surge from the Millfield as they took the next six games through Dave Jones, Ray Dutton & Brian Dutton, Alan Sutton & Chris Taylor, Danny Wood & Ian Wall, Billy Fox and Mike Howard confirming their place in the final. Anne Grady claimed the final game for the Hammer.

In the second semi-final, Widnes Bowling Club were up against Simms Cross Institute.

Paul Batty secured the first game for the Stute before Alex McGill levelled for the Bowler.

The Stute went on to take the lead with wins from Dave Evans and Tony Green & Mick Cullen.

The Bowling Club’s win from Scott Byrne & Dave Pickles narrowed the gap, but not for long as the Stute added a further success from Andy Abbott & Dave Evans.

The Bowler made a last minute dash to level through Joe Batty and Scott Byrne to make it 4-4 but to no avail as Glynn Owen took the final game and the match for Simms Cross Institute booking their place in the final.

In the final, Simms Cross Institute took on the Millfield.

The Millfield raced into a 3-0 lead with Ian Wall, Billy Fox and Chris Taylor all successful on the oche.

The Stute recovered a point via pair Glynn Owen & Paul Batty, but then saw the Millfield take the next two games securing the silverware as Ronnie Greylish & Dave Jones and Mike Howard & Brian Dutton both won their matches. ●
