Stadium do find rich pickings in Goldmine to claim the silverware

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the latter stages of the Widnes Bowling Club Cup took place.

In the first semi-final, the Mill Brow SC took on Halton Stadium.

The Stadium claimed the first game through Neil Ward. The Brow levelled via Dave Steventon and then went ahead through Jack Dunn.

Parity was restored with a win from the Stadium’s opening pair, Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia. The Stadium then recorded a further two ● wins from Alan Magee & Joe Kelly and Joe Price & Neil Ward. The Brow won the next game via Dave Powell but Halton Stadium advanced to the final as they took the remaining two games and the match through Alan Magee and Kevin Garcia.

In the second semi-final, the Goldmine faced the Wellington.

Ste Whitfield won the first game for the Wellington with 19 darts. Chris Hough then levelled for the Goldmine. This was followed by three further wins from Gary Johnson (19 darts), Karl Windisch & Chris Hough and Josh Bury & Gary Johnson. The Wellington recovered a point through Karl Whitfield & John Barber.

However, the Goldmine were on a roll as they took the next two games through Sean Bell and Peter Mullally to secure the match. Peter Murty claimed a consolatio­n final game for the Wellington.

In the final, the Goldmine took on Halton Stadium, with the Stadium taking the first game through Alan Magee (17 darts).

Chris Hough levelled for the Goldmine before Eddie Dootson took the Stadium ahead again. The Goldmine came back to level via Karl Windisch & Chris Hough and then went ahead through Josh Bury & Gary Johnson.

That was as good as it got for the Goldmine, however, as the Stadium stormed ahead taking the remaining four games and the match via Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia (19 darts), Neil Ward, John Kilkenny and Kevin Garcia, to claim the silverware.
