Remembrance services
REMEMBRANCE services have been announced for across Halton.
Members of the Halton and Widnes Districts of the Royal British Legion (RBL) are inviting residents and organisations to take part in the annual Civic Services Of Remembrance in Runcorn and Widnes on Sunday, November 12.
The Widnes service will be held at the War Memorial in Victoria Park.
The Civic Procession will assemble at 10.05am in Lockett Road – on the Peel House Lane side of the park gates – and will move off at 10.35am to arrive at the War Memorial at 10.45am.
The procession will disperse at the end of the service.
The Runcorn service will be held at the Cenotaph on Greenway Road. The Civic Procession will assemble at St Michael’s Church on Greenway Road at 2.30pm and will move off at 2.45pm to arrive at the Cenotaph at 3pm.
Two minutes’ silence will also take place on Saturday, November 11, at 11am and the RBL has made an appeal to the general public and organisations to observe it. Halton Borough Council endorses the appeal on behalf of members and staff.
On Monday November 6, at 2pm part of the two lawns on either side of the Runcorn War Memorial will be rededicated as Gardens Of Remembrance. A short service of dedication will be held and anyone wishing to place British Legion remembrance crosses can do so. ●
