OCA on the shortlist at prestigious school awards
● A WIDNES school has been named on the shortlist for the Educate Awards 2017.
Ormiston Chadwick Academy (OCA) on Liverpool Road opened in 2014 and took over its predecessor school The Bankfield, which was placed in special measures by Ofsted.
The leadership team at OCA have steered it on a journey of rapid improvement.
From bottom in the borough, the school is now the fifth highest performing school in the North West and in the Top 100 Secondary Schools nationally.
Ofsted also deemed it ‘outstanding’ in its most recent inspection.
The Widnes school is shortlisted in the Leadership Team Of The Year category, alongside Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School and Winstanley College, both in Lancashire.
Judges were ● impressed with OCA’s leadership team and commented on their ‘transformational’ impact to the lives of its young people.
Held at Liverpool Cathedral, the awards is a night where the excellence of schools in the Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and Lancashire is celebrated and rewarded in a unique fashion, bringing together inspiring leaders and support staff to showcase the brilliance within the region’s education sector.
The awards, in partnership with Copyrite Systems and Ricoh, is now in its sixth year and are the biggest celebration of education in the North West.
The winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony, which takes place on Friday, November 17, at Liverpool Cathedral.
