Charged over ‘verbal abuse’

-

ARUNCORN man has been charged after a video of an alleged foul-mouthed rant at a paramedic went viral.

Shocking footage emerged of Colin Anderson, 50, apparently verbally abusing the emergency services while they were trying to save a life.

The decorator, who stopped further up the road, allegedly called the paramedic ‘a “f***ing idiot’ for stopping the ambulance on the road.

The incident, on the corner of Union Street and Sewell Street in Runcorn, was recorded by a resident over the weekend to show ‘the abuse our para- medics face for parking in the street whilst saving a life’.

Cheshire Constabulary today said: “Following questioning Colin Thomas Anderson, 50, from Runcorn, has been charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

“Anderson has been released on bail and is set to appear at Warrington Magistrates on December 4, 2017.”

North West Ambulance Service has condemned the alleged verbal attack.

But Colin Anderson apologised before his arrest after the video went viral and the shaming by ambulance chiefs.

He said: “My use of language was not acceptable and I understand and apologise for this. The NHS do an amazing job and I have never faulted them in any way. I have the upmost respect for them and I understand the need to park where she did – I just wish I had not reacted in the way I had.”
