Burglar, 22 sent down

-

A 22-year-old burglar was sentenced to five years and four years in prison after admitting a string of offences in Runcorn.

Lewis Johnson, 22, of no fixed address but from Runcorn, was sent down at Chester Crown Court Monday, November 7, after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and driving without a license or insurance.

A Cheshire police spokeswoman said Johnson had stolen a Nissan Qashqai from The Croft area of The Brow at some time between 9.30pm on May 22 and 5.30am the following morning.

Johnson also made off with the car keys, cash and an iPad Mini.

Officers found the car in Grappenhall, Warrington, and recovered the vehicle.

Investigations led them to arrest Johnson on June 2, and he was later charged. ●

DC Dawn Taylor said: “Burglary can have a huge effect on victims, making them feel afraid in their own home.

“The act of entering someone’s home to steal is immense and shouldn’t be underestimated.

“I hope the victims get some satisfaction that Johnson is now behind bars.

“Help prevent burglary in your area, look out for your neighbours and report suspicious activity to police on 101.”
