Robbery CCTV appeal

DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of three men they would like to speak in connection with an attempted robbery in Runcorn.

The appeal was issued three suspects in their late teens to early 20s were alleged to have approached a man on Chester Close at the junction with Beaumaris Way, assaulted him and threatened him with a knife.

Cheshire police said the incident was reported to have happened at around 2pm on Thursday, November 9. The three suspects were white and wearing dark jackets, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

One had short dark hair and was wearing a black parka-style jacket with a fur lined hood, another had long dark hair and the third had long blond or ginger hair.

Detective Constable Adam Norton said: “This was an unprovoked attack carried out in broad daylight in the middle of the street.

“The victim is in his 60s and unlikely to offer any real resistance to these young men.

“Violent crime is a priority for Cheshire police and we are committed to doing all we can to trace those responsibl­e.

“This took place in the middle of the afternoon in a residentia­l street so I would appeal to anyone who was in that area and may have witnessed what happened or has seen anything significan­t to get in touch.”
