●
THREE suspects have appeared in court charged in connection with the shooting of a teenage boy in Runcorn.
Philip Coran, 27, of Greenbridge Close, Castlefields; Wayne Griffiths, 28, of Gaunts Way, Hallwood Park; and Sean Davies, 30, of Greenbridge Close, Castlefields, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Davies’s indictment also includes possession with intent to supply class B drugs cannabis.
The case was adjourned for an appearance at Chester Crown Court in January.
Armed police arrested the three suspects as officers raided properties ● including on Greenbridge Close over the weekend.
Detectives launched their investigation last Thursday after a 16-yearold boy was shot while sat in a Ford Mondeo on The Croft in The Brow area of Runcorn at about 9.10pm by a masked man who is alleged to have emerged from a blue car, told him to get out of the Mondeo then shot him.
Investigators said the shooter then returned to the blue car, which departed via Main Street in the direction of the Norton Arms pub.
The teenager was taken to hospital with injuries to his calf and abdomen, potentially from a rico- chet, that are believed to be life-changing.
He remained in hospital at time of writing.
Residents said the area is usually quiet and sought-after by house hunters.
Armed police stopped and seized a car on Halton Road on Tuesday in connection with the probe.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said: “The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 953 of November 30. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.” OR CALL
