Show tours libraries
LIBRARIES in Halton will host a touring performance for children about the woman who wrote the world’s first computer programme.
Widnes and Halton Lea are due to hold Ada.Ada. Ada later this month.
Widnes Library will host the show on Wednesday, December 13, with Halton Lea taking over for the performance the following day.
Both performances for schools will be from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, with digital maker workshops from 4pm to 5pm.
The internationally performed show is about Ada Lovelace who wrote the world’s first computer programme in 1843.
The show tells Ada’s story using an LED dress, operated live on stage using wearable tech.
A Halton Borough Council spokesman said: “Local school children will attend the shows which will encourage them to engage with technology and STEM as a career choice.
“Ada.Ada.Ada is a high impact performance that is currently touring 23 libraries across the North Of England, including Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, as part of an Arts Council funded project on behalf of the Society Of Chief Librarians.
“The team behind the show are also holding digital maker workshops at Widnes and Halton Lea Libraries on the same days.
“The workshops, open to the general public, are inspired by Ada Lovelace’s work and involve designing, writing and testing algorithms to control LEDs.”
