Fire station relocates
FRODSHAM Police Station has moved into the fire station to son Ship Street.
A Cheshire Fire And Rescue Fire Service (CFRS) spokeswoman said the relocation to a shared base with firefighters followed a public consultation.
David Keane, Cheshire Police And Crime Commissioner, was joined by Halton’s Cllr Stef Nelson, Cheshire Fire Authority deputy chairman; Chief Fire Officer Paul Hancock and Acting Chief Constable Janette McCormick for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The spokeswoman said that 95% of the 358 members of the public surveyed agreed that the move was appropriate, and 97% said Frodsham Fire Station was accessible. Consultation took place between August 29 and September 25.
The building is now a joint fire and police base.
Frodsham Fire Station is staffed by on-call firefighters who respond to emergencies via an alert system.
The spokeswoman said it was identified as a suitable location for a joint police and fire base with the space and facilities to accommodate the same services for officers, staff and members of the public that were, up until now, being delivered at the police station.
Commissioner Keane said: “I am delighted with this shared base for police and fire in Frodsham.
“Working together will reduce operating costs for both organisations and most definitely improve joint working between police officers and firefighters.”
Paul Hancock, CFRS chief fire officer and chief executive, said: “This collaboration will not change the way that Frodsham firefighters or police officers respond to emergencies.
“This cost-effective move brings operational staff together under one roof and will allow for savings to be made by both organisations without affecting the level of service we currently provide.”
