THE EX-FILES

SHE’S been hinting at it since October, but Gillian Anderson, left, has made it official – she’s quitting The X-Files. It’s a huge blow for fans of the sci-fi show, which returned this week for its 11th season.

Gillian 49, has played Agent Dana Scully, alongside David Duchovny’s Agent Fox Mulder since the show began 1993. The original run ended in 2002, but the series was brought back for a 10th season in 2016.

She told TV Guide: “I’ve said this is it for me. I was a bit surprised by people’s (shocked) reaction to my announcement... because my understanding was that this was a single season.”

I’M WRITING SOLO...

I SPENT New Year holed up in a cottage in the woods listening to Classic FM as they worked their way through the albums of the year.

Time and again the astonishing music of John Williams, pictured, was played, so it’s heartening news to hear he’s set his ears on composing the theme to Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Confirming the news in an interview with Variety, he said: “The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly.

“What I will do is offer this to John, and to Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy.”
