Drop in events for potential foster carers
DROP in events across Halton for those thinking about becoming a foster carer have been announced.
Halton Lea Library in Runcorn and Costa Coffee in Widnes will hold events over the first half of 2018.
The borough’s fostering service can offer advice and answer any questions, while residents can also formally express their interest to begin the fostering process.
People who have previously been in touch with the service are also welcome to attend.
They will take place each month on a Thursday between 11am and 1pm.
The Runcorn events will be held on January 18, March 15, and May 17.
The Widnes drop in events will be held on February 15, April 26 and May 24.
Cllr Tom McInerney, Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for children and young people, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out about becoming a foster carer and these informal drop in events in convenient locations give people a chance to speak to directly to those who are already fostering and our service team.
“In Halton, we really need more local people to come forward to become foster carers and we would encourage as many people as possible to drop in and find out more”.
Halton offers a free comprehensive training package to new foster carers and those who are over 21 and have a spare room face little else which will prevent them from applying.
