Food warehouse is at full capacity

-

RUNCORN foodbank warehouse is full. Colin Keiley, Runcorn And District Foodbank manager, said that thanks to the generosity of residents, local schools and businesses in Runcorn, Frodsham, Helsby and nearby areas, the facility has now reached its safe capacity.

He said the charity cannot accept any more food at present as there is nowhere to store it, adding that this was despite an increase in client demand due to changes in Universal Credit, homelessness and debt.

Mr Keiley said: “We are asking that, at the moment, you please do not bring any more food to the warehouse until further notice.

“Keep an eye on the web page and newsletters to inform you when the situation changes.

“In the meantime, the foodbank will continue to function as normal, and this costs approximately £6,000 per year.

“If you would like to convert your gifts of food into gifts of money that would be wonderful.

“There are a number of ways of doing this.

“Pay direct to the foodbank account: sort code 40 52 40, account 00030287.

“In addition, gift aid will give us 25% more cash via the Government.

“The foodbank now has an account with Stewardship so if anyone wishes to donate to Runcorn And District Foodbank through their own stewardship accounts then they can now do so.

“You can also send a cheque to Runcorn and District Foodbank, addressed to: Runcorn And District Foodbank Holy Spirit Church, Fernhurst, Halton Brook, Runcorn, WA7 2NJ.

“The foodbank trustees, management team and volunteers continue to thank you for your support and generosity in our work to help those struggling with life.

“Please allow us to get our stock levels down to a safe, manageable level.”
