Moore and more tries in big win

-

Moore I XV 111 Winnington Park III XV 0 MOORE’S first-team put up the biggest amount of points scored by a side in Division Four South this season as they ran in 17 tries against luckless Winnington Park, 13 of which were converted by Sam Craven.

The team continued to play an exciting blend of attacking rugby that has been developing over the past number of weeks.

They put the visitors under constant pressure with skilful handling of the ball and impressive support lines were run by players in every position.

The game saw welcome returns to action for Joe Pidgeon and Matt Griffiths in the first XV fold after injury and, for each, a new addition to the family.

Both players celebrated their returns with skilful displays and a try apiece.

There was a maturity in the home outfit’s performance, with the side adhering to playing the basics and working as a team, whereas in the past there may have been a few players attempting solo efforts as the score mounted up.

Respect is also due to Winnington Park on what cannot have been an easy day for them.

The leagues occasionally throw up these types of mismatches, but credit must go to the Winnington players as they stuck at it and managed to put in a few last-ditch tackles to prevent the final score being even higher.

For the record, the tries against Winnington were scored by Sam Craven, Jack Harvey and Max Holland who each crossed twice while Adam Wadsworth, Liam Taylor, Tom Banks, Nathan Coole-Healey, David Dixon, Mikey Woollacott, Joe Pidgeon, Max Ferguson, Joe Long, Matt Griffiths and Mike Barr all registered one apiece. ● Moore are at Moss Lane once again this Saturday afternoon as they play host to Sandbach.

The game kicks-off at 2.15pm.
