FIGHTING FOR OUR NHS

- Stephen Armstrong On behalf of Fighting For Our NHS, Halton, Warrington, St Helens & Whiston

NATIONAL Health Service patients, workers and supporters from across Halton, Warrington, St Helens and Whiston have come together to protect their local hospitals from privatisation and outsourcing.

The NHS is the best healthcare system in the world, and it belongs to all of us.

But too many politicians have ignored the doctors and nurses on the frontline.

They’ve turned their back on the principle of an NHS owned by all of us that works to save lives, not make money.

The crisis in the NHS has been created by the Government and the Government needs to act NOW to end it.

Free healthcare is an asset to our nation’s economy, ensuring that workers can be treated quickly and effectively without losing days at work.

It provides employment across society and opportunities for small businesses like pharmacies, local stores, cafes and transport firms.

In many towns, local hospitals are among the biggest employers.

Privatisation means asset stripping, job losses and closures.

The biggest cause of bankruptcy in the United States is health care costs.

The average cost of a hospital birth in America is over $32 thousand.

In a society where incomes are falling while living costs go up, who can afford private health care? ●

To show their support for their NHS, the group is planning a rally at the main entrance to Warrington General Hospital, on February 3, at 1pm, which will be supported by a stall located at ‘The Skittles’ at the top of Horsemarket and Buttermarket Streets in Warrington town centre.

Warrington General has played a huge part in the lives of almost everyone in Halton, Warrington and the surrounding area and we wish to show our support, respect and gratitude to the wonderful NHS staff who do so much for us all.

Join us on Saturday, to tell the government to end the crisis in the NHS and support our wonderful doctors, nurses and NHS staff.
