Harvey does the trick as Moore extend winning run to five matches

-

Moore I XV 40 Sandbach III XV 7 MOORE’S winning streak continued with a fifth victory on the bounce against a lively Sandbach side last Saturday.

The win was inspired by an impressive hat-trick of tries from Jack Harvey with the visitors unable to cope with his powerful running.

The match was very much even for the first 25 minutes, with both teams making occasional forays into opposition territory.

However, it was the kickers on both sides who were kept busiest as the outfits looked to play a territory-based game.

It would be the physicality of Moore that would eventually shake the game up, with Max Holland and Dan Carney putting a big joint hit on the Sandbach centre which seemed to jolt the game into life.

From that point the visitors never looked fully comfortable on the ball, and after a Sandbach knock-on, Moore capitalised when Harvey broke from the scrum to score.

A second Moore try would follow soon after with another surge into the Sandbach 22 netting a scrum after another knock-on.

This time, it was a simple hard line that took Max Holland over the whitewash to double the score.

A third try was added by Harvey just before the interval to make it 21-0 at the halfway stage.

The second half started in much the same vein as the first, with the two teams cancelling each other out for the most part and handling ● errors putting an end to the build-up of play.

The visitors eventually got themselves on the scoresheet via a penalty try after it was adjudged a Moore player had gone off his feet to secure the ball at a breakdown on the Moore 5m.

The score fired Moore up once more to secure their position, and some great work by the forwards saw them march up the field, sucking defenders in as they went.

This gave the backline a virtually empty field to run at, with Joe Pidgeon capping a great team move.

From there, traffic started moving in one direction as Moore took hold of the game, with Harvey once more rampaging to score his third try.

The best was saved to last, however, as excellent work and skill came together across the team to put Kyle Robinson in the corner to end the game 40-7 to the home side.

On Saturday Moore travel to third-placed Knutsford where they were defeated at the start of the season in the Cheshire Bowl.
