Teenager set to start season on loan at Town

-

WIDNES youngster Dan Norman is set to go out on loan to Workington Town.

The loan will initially be for four games and according to the Vikings “will provide another opportunity for Dan to gain competitive action and progress his development, following his loan spell at Swinton Lions last year”.

The 19-year-old back-row forward signed a full-time one-year deal with the Vikings at the end of the 2017 season.

Head coach, Denis Betts, commented: “We have an abundance of talented young players and it’s imperative that we get them as much game time as possible.

“We’ve seen how much the experience of playing in Cumbria benefitted the Chapelhow brothers and I’m sure that this experience will assist Dan’s progression too.” ● THE club have offered their condolences this week to the family and friends of former player Tommy Galligan who recently passed away.

Galligan made 131 appearances for Widnes, scoring 24 tries and played in the 1955-56 Lancashire Cup Final against Leigh at Central Park in Wigan. The Vikings will be honouring Galligan and all other Members, supporters, players and staff who have passed away in the past 12 months with a special minute’s applause prior to kick-off against Catalans Dragons at the Select Security Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The applause will take place at 2.55pm and the club has asked that Members and supporters arrive in good time. ● WIDNES has announced it will be holding a Multi-Sports Camp on February 12-13.
