Millfield bring down the Hammer in a totally dominant performanc­e

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

The Millfield at home to the Hammer & Pincers took all nine games in a powerful display.

Ronnie Greylish, Ray Dutton and Chris Hall started the rout in the singles. This was followed by pairs Keith Horabin & Chris Hall, Chris Taylor & Ian Wall and Billy Fox & Alan Sutton.

Then in the final three singles, wins from Billy Fox, Chris Taylor and Alan Sutton finished off the whitewash.

Simms Cross Institute at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first three games to the Stadium’s Eddie Dootson (16 darts), Joe Kelly and John Kilkenny.

The Stute’s opening pair, Andy Abbott & Joe Pennington recovered a point, only to see the Stadium continue its track to victory with two in a row from Joe Price & Colin Rigby and Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia. The Stute recovered a further point via Glyn Owen (17 darts), whilst John Bowles (19 darts) and Tony Jackson took the final two games and the match for Stadium.

The Wellington at home to the Goldmine conceded the first two games to the Goldmine’s Karl Windisch (18 darts) and Mike Callaghan (18 darts and 180).

Karl Whitfield recovered a point for the Wellington, only to see the Goldmine’s opening pair Sean Bell & Terry Roach (18 darts) take the next game.

The Wellington rallied, claiming the next two games via Ste Whitfield & Kath Conway and James Holden & Mark Tyrer to level the score at 3-3. The Goldmine seized the moment, as two in a row from Terry Roach (14 darts) and Sean Bell (112 finish) ensured their victory with one game still to play.

Paul Murty took the final game for the Wellington, but it was merely a consolatio­n.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Mill Brow SC saw the Brow’s Dave Steventon secure the first game.

The Bowler came back to level through Alex McGill.

A further two wins from Tommy Robertson and opening pair, Alex McGill & Dave Pickles gave the Bowler a stronger lead.

The Brow recovered a point via Dave Powell & Tony Roach, only to see the Bowler widen the gap again through, Scott Grady & Tommy Robertson.

The Brow pulled back with two wins from Tony Roach and Dave Powell making it 4-4.

The outcome was ultimately resolved as Scott Grady claimed the final game and the match for Widnes Bowling Club.
