Banning orders for Wolves fans after flares at Vikings stadium

-

● BANNING orders have been issued by Warrington Wolves after smoke bombs and flares were set off at the Halton Stadium at last month’s clash with Widnes Vikings.

The Wolves condemned the actions of a ‘small minority’ of its fans following the derby against the Vikings on Friday, February 16.

Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said the club ‘will not tolerate this behaviour’ after flares and smoke bombs were ignited in the away end and around the concourses at the Lower House Lane stadium.

Mr Fitzpatrick said Warrington were working with Widnes to ‘identify the culprits’ and that such acts ‘are not welcome at any rugby league stadium’.

A fresh statement from Warrington has confirmed the club has issued a series of banning orders following the crowd incidents.

One man has been handed a life ban from all Warrington home and away fixtures following on from a previous offence in which a short-term ban was issued.

Three other men have been given two-year bans from The Halliwell Jones Stadium until 2020.

The statement said: “The club, and the sport of rugby league, will not tolerate the behaviour displayed and will not allow a small minority to overshadow the fantastic true supporters at Warrington Wolves.

“The club has worked with Widnes to successfully identify the offenders.

“The club would like to thank supporters for their co-operation in assisting with identifying these offenders and, for the continued support of the club and team.”
