Bowles and Shipley hold their nerve for their sides to secure success

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, round 19 of the Mill Brow SC RTB League took place.

In Division One, the Goldmine at home to the Millfield conceded the first game to the visitors’ Jamie Donegan.

Peter Mullally then levelled for the Goldmine. Billy Fox then took the Millfield ahead, and once again, the Goldmine made it all even, this time through their opening pair, Peter Mullally & Tim Hunt.

The Millfield struck back with a vengeance, taking the next four games through Billy Fox & Alan Sutton, Chris Hall & Chris Taylor, Brian Dutton (15 darts) and Ronnie Greylish ensuring their match victory. The Goldmine’s Sean Bell took the final game, but it was merely a consolatio­n.

Halton Stadium at home to the Mill Brow SC saw the hosts’ Kenny Murphy secure the first game.

This was quickly matched by the Brow’s Kevin Helps (16 and 16 darts).

Colin Rigby then nudged the Stadium ahead only for the Brow to level again, this time through Dave Powell & Kevin Helps.

They then added a further win through Jack Dunn & Neil Platt.

Parity was restored as John Bowles & Joe Kelly (16 and 18 darts) took the next game.

A further win apiece from the Stadium’s Tony Jackson and the Brow’s Dave Powell (15 darts) made a thrilling encounter all-square at 4-4.

John Bowles (15 and 15 darts) then claimed the final game and the match for the Stadium.

The Wellington at home to Widnes Cricket Club secured the first game through Ste Whitfield (16 and 14 darts). The Cricket Club then levelled through Rob Morris.

The Wellington took the lead again, bagging two in a row via Anthony Hall and opening pair, Anthony Hall & John Barber.

The Cricket Club rallied, bringing the score back to level with wins from Rob Morris & Kev Baxter (17 darts) and Ernie Griffiths & Andy Atkin.

Both teams were in with a chance, but the Wellington stormed ahead, taking the final three games and the match as John Barber, James Holden and Paul Murty were all triumpant on the oche in the final singles’ contests.
