A brilliant triumph in Burnley
HALTON Swimming Club’s younger swimmers took part in the first round of the Microleague, held at Burnley’s St Peters Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Halton, who won Division D in 2017, had a number of new swimmers competing this year so it was interesting to see what they could do in their first competitive team gala.
There was no need to worry as they performed brilliantly, finishing top of the pile after 49 races.
Halton finished with 17 first-place finishes, 13 second-places and 13 third-places which really was a tremendous result.
Halton were up against home team Burnley Bobcats ‘A’, Lytham St Annes ‘A’ and Preston ‘B’.
The final results were Halton 139 points, Burnley Bobcats ‘A’ 127, Lytham St Annes ‘A’ 118, Preston ‘B’ 88.
As well as the team finishing in first place there were also a number of fine individual performances with the majority of swimmers posting new personal best times.
