Gem of a display by Goldmine

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

Mill Brow SC at home to Halton Stadium took the first game through, Eric Peel (180). The Stadium then levelled via Tony Jackson.

It did not get any better for the Brow as the Stadium took all the remaining seven games and the match as John Kilkenny, Kenny Murphy & Tony Jackson, Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia, John Bowles & Joe Kelly, Joe Kelly, Colin Rigby and Kevin Garcia were all victorious on the oche.

The Millfield at home to the Goldmine, suffered a rare whitewash as the visitors took all nine games in a flawless display. The winners in the singles were Karl Windisch (18 and 18 darts and 117 finish), Mike Callaghan (15 darts and 180) and Gary Johnson. In the pairs, Sean Bell & Terry Roach (18 darts), Josh Bury & Jack Slater and John Taylor & James Holden all triumphed. This was then backed up by the last singles where Shane Littler (19 darts), Terry Roach (19 darts) and Josh Bury all won.

Simms Cross Institute hosting the Wellington conceded the first game to the visitors’ Anthony Hall (16 darts and 180).

The Stute levelled via Brian Abbott, only to see James Holden add to the Wellington’s tally.

Parity was soon restored with a win from the Stute’s opening pair Glynn Owen & Brian Abbott. This parity was not to last, however, as the Wellington rallied taking the remaining five games and the match through Ste Whitfield & Lol Fonterigo, Karl Whitfield & James Holden, Ste Whitfield, Karl Whitfield (121 finish) and Mark Tyrer.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Hammer & Pincers had a good night as they claimed all nine games.

Andy Beddows, Alan Clark and Dave Pickles (106 finish) won the first set of singles.

Alan Clark & Dave Pickles, Tommy Robertson & Scott Byrne and Scott Grady & Joe Batty then won in the pairs.

This was followed by Joe Batty (16 darts), Scott Byrne and Scott Grady (18 darts & 104 finish) in the late singles matches.
