Drug driver banned

MAGISTRATES have banned a Runcorn driver from the roads for 18 months after he was caught behind the wheel with drugs in his system.

Brian Donohue, 30, of Earls Way, Hallwood Park, must also pay a £240 in fines, plus costs and victim surcharge totalling £355.

Court papers said Donohue pleaded guilty to having excess levels benzoylecgonine, which is a cocaine byproduct used to test consumption, and delta-9tetrahydrocannabinol, better known as THC and the main active compound in cannabis.

He also admitted driving without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with his licence and possessing two snapbags of cannabis.

The offences were reported to have taken place on December 2.

Donohue was sentenced on March 1.
