Walk-in hours reduced

-

THE opening hours for the Mersey Gateway walk-in centre in Runcorn are to be reduced next month.

A spokesman for the Merseylink bridge consortium said that from Tuesday, April 3, the office will be open 9am to 7pm on weekdays.

Weekend and bank holiday times will be unaffected and call centre hours will remain unchanged.

The walk-in centre, which is on Howard Court in Manor Park, has been open from 8am-8pm prior to the upcoming reduction. mIt deals with tolls system registration and payment enquiries and transactions.

The spokesman said 10,000 drivers have used the centre since it opened.

Anthony Alicastro, managing director of tolls system contractor Merseyflow, a subsidiary of Emovis, said the change was part of the natural life cycle of the walk-in centre, and reflected demand for walk-in centre services.

He said: “Since opening the walk-in centre has helped more than 10,000 people with their Merseyflow accounts, in February alone the team helped more than 1,700 people. However, as we approach six months of full operation we are finding more and more people are visiting the walk-in centre between the hours of 9am and 7pm on weekdays.

“Now people have become more familiar with the tolls, the bridge and the services we offer, we are in a position to slightly reduce the opening hours of the walk-in centre.

“Hardly anyone was using the centre before 8am or after 7pm so it makes sense to focus our resources and adapt our service to ensure we meet customer demands.

“While the walk-in centre will be changing its hours of operation from Monday to Friday, weekend and bank holiday opening hours remain unchanged, as will call centre hours.”

Contact Merseyflow by phone on 01928 878 878, between 8am and 8pm, Mon-Fri and 9am-6pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays; online at www.merseyflow.co.uk; in person at the walk-in centre; or at a Payzone outlet.

Journeys that have already been made can be paid for using the automated 24-seven payment system on: 01928 878 878. Drivers must have their vehicle registration details and their car’s make and model ready when paying for trips, but do not need to provide any further information.
