Heany at the treble for U9s

In their second game of the season HFH U9s travelled to Wigan.

In attack for the Hornets there was some strong running down the middle from Matthew Brown, Kobe McKinnon, Cian Winstanley and Ollie Jenkins but it was out wide that the Hornets found gaps with some great runs from Kian Fahey and James Prescott, who scored a try, while Joe Heany helped himself to a hat-trick.

Matthew Brown was MOM for his 28 tackles.

HFH REDS U10 ............. 22 SADDLEWORT­H U10 .. 20

Saddlewort­h scored the first try in a close half, before Keigan McPake levelled for Hornets. The second half started with Saddlewort­h scoring first, but Hornets hit straight back with a cracking try from Harvey Wycherley. The other tries came from George Atwood, who was MOM, and fullback Jacob Fitzsimon. With just three minutes left, Adam Cooke made a great run to score the winning try.

Tries came from Harry Robertson (3), Thomas Jack (2), MOM Owen Dagnall and conversion kicks from Harry Robertson (2) and Jake Davies (3).

HFH U8 GREENS ......... 52 BURTONWOOD............ 28

Greens scored first through Malachy Arrowsmith but Bulldogs levelled. Niall Dourley carried three defenders over the line for a second try for Greens, before further tries came from Harry McMullen, Leo Foster, Jackson Riley, Billy Rowlands, Coby Scott, George Doran and a brace from Isaac O’Brian.

Hornets opened the scoring with Harry Keeley crossing twice. Ben Lane then scorched through a gap and three Lewis Hughes kicks give the team an 18-0 half-time lead. George May and Adam Jack scored tries early in the second half. Man of the match Keeley scored his third and fourth tries of the game before Sam Haynes won a race to the ball to score. The try of the game was landed by Hughes.
