‘Blue blade’ clue after robbery bid
● INVESTIGATORS are keen to locate a distinctive blue knife believed to have been used in an attempted robbery on someone’s doorstep in Runcorn.
The blade was reported to have been brandished at a householder during an incident on Lockgate West in Windmill Hill at around 8pm on Wednesday, April 11.
Cheshire police said a crook knocked at the property and when the occupant answered, the offender put his foot inside the door and demanded cash while gesturing with the weapon. The 50-year-old woman pushed him outside and shut the door.
Sergeant Chris Maddocks, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said officers are keen to trace the knife, which was entirely blue including its blade. It is not known what material it was made of.
The suspect was described as white, about 5ft 3ins tall and in his early 20s.
He was slim and had short black hair, stubble and a ‘local accent’.
He was wearing dark trousers and a blue cotton-style hoodie with thin black vertical lines. The hood was pulled up.
Sgt Maddocks said: “It’s such a distinctive knife and people might remember that or have seen it – a completely blue knife with a blue blade and blue handle.
“It’s quite an aggressive crime and we’re quite fortunate that it’s quite a rare type of offence.
“I know CID are working very hard to identify who the offender is.’’
