Take Thatto as U14s show dominance in big victory

-

Thatto Heath U14 0

HFH U14 38 HALTON Farnworth Hornets’ U14s side travelled to Thatto Heath and although they started well, found themselves with a lot of defending to do early on in the encounter.

Hornets’ defence stood firm and on their first attacking set in the Thatto half of the field, Nathan Bannerman powered over for a try.

This was soon followed by a Sam Haynes four-pointer on the back of some fantastic handling.

Lewis Hughes converted both tries for a half-time score of 12-0.

After a strong Haynes break upfield early in the second period, Aiden Doolan took the Thatto defence on and scored after a huge hand-off the full-back did not see coming.

More good handling put Haynes into space to score his second try.

Another powerful break from Bannerman saw him break the line and pass to the supporting Conaugh O’Neill who scored near the posts.

Halton were firmly in control now and Thatto tried a short kick-off that Adam Jack reacted to first and beat several defenders on a 60 metre scamper to the tryline.

Harry Keeley had the final say as once again some very good build-up play put him in space. He beat his opposite number to score. Ben Lane converted to make the final score 38-0.

This was a very dominant display against a strong Thatto Heath side.

Remarkably, the Hornets have now kept the opposition scoreless for the fourth successive game, a terrific testament to how well they have started the season. ●
