Magnificent Moore power to promotion success with brilliant victory

-

Bowdon 12 Moore 57 MOORE secured promotion from Division Four South with a game to spare with a display of attacking rugby union that saw them comfortably overcome Bowdon.

The game started with Moore’s quickest try of the season, the kick-off finding Max Ferguson who made an initial break, before offloading to Mikey Woollacott who put fellow forward Daz Mawn in for a try from a brilliant two versus one situation.

Moore worked hard on a very hot afternoon and were as resplendent in their rearguard as they were in attack.

After managing to see off a brief period of Bowdon pressure, Moore were able to break upfield and score again with Woollacott turning from provider to scorer, as he was able to get on the end of a Ferguson offload.

The game fell into one were both sides began to make small mistakes.

Another brilliant attacking run from Moore saw the ball knocked-on not far to to the line, resulting in a 5m scrum for Bowdon on their own tryline.

From this scrum there was a Bowdon knock-on, and from the resulting scrum, Ferguson was able to pick and go over for another five-pointer.

Shortly after, from a Bowdon lineout the ball was fumbled in their in-goal area allowing Moore flanker Ben Dommett the chance to dive on it for his first try for the club.

The first half had been dominated by the Moore forwards, but the second period saw the backline given their chance to shine, with gaps appearing across the field.

Time and again the Moore defence, led by the everimproving Mike Barr, were able to find overlaps or half gaps to exploit.

Wonderful awareness saw overlaps exploited early to put full-back Joe Pidgeon in for two tries to take his total to 18 for the season.

Again, superb offloading saw Moore push up the pitch and effectively use the ball to allow Adam Wadsworth to finish in the corner as Moore began to demonstrate why they have had such a successful season.

There was even time for some excellent individual efforts, with Barr carving through the Bowdon line from his stand-off position.

Danny Leah Wilcock also used some excellent footwork to cut in to score.

The tremendous victory was a great demonstration of how far the club has come in the past 12 months and really showcased some brilliant attacking rugby.
