Invitation to festival of football

-

ONCE again, the Young Lions FC are hosting their annual Football Festival at Higher Bebington Playing Fields in Wirral on Saturday, June 30 – and teams from the Halton area are invited to take part.

Age groups this year are U7s to U15s with maximum squads for each team of 10 players.

U7s and U8s will play five-a-side in accordance with FA regulations whilst U9s through to U15s will play seven-aside. Maximum squad size for all age groups is 10 players. Cost of entry is £50 per team.

This year, organisers will again be holding both the main and subsidiary cup competitions so that every team will progress to a knockout phase following the group games.

All games are played on good quality and sized pitches and the tournament is well worth winning with cups and individual player trophies for winners and finalists in both competitions.

The tournament will be sanctioned by the Football Association and all games are refereed by official and experienced referees.

Tournament organiser, George Ringrose, said: “As this is a highly regarded and quality tournament there is always a good mix of teams entering with many sides entering year after year as it is so good.

“Previously we have had teams travelling from such places as the Isle of Man and Birmingham to participate in addition to the usual mix of teams from the local areas – Liverpool, Chester, Southport, Lancashire and Wales.”

Any managers of teams requiring more information about the tournament or wish to obtain an application form to enter should contact George as soon as possible via email at georgeringrose@hotmail. co.uk or you can telephone him on 0151-608 6163.

As the tournament fills up very quickly – each year there are more than 400 enquiries/ registrations for places which means the tournament fills up in approximately six to eight weeks – early application is suggested in order to avoid possible disappointment.
