Merry occasion for Norley as they remain the ones to stop in top flight

SECTION One leaders in the Runcorn & District Bowling Associatio­n, Norley, continue to press on with a 164-100 victory at Halton RBL ‘A’.

Leading the way for Norley were Gerald Merry (21-4), Kevin Duncalf and Fred Worrall (both 21-9) while the best reply for Legion came from Alan Dennett (21-17).

Castle SSC moved up into second place after a 153-130 win at Norton Arms.

The best win on the night for Castle was recorded by Steve Moores (21-10) with the best reply for Norton came from Wayne Owen (21-9).

Third-placed Hazel Pear travelled to take on Pavilions ‘B’ and recorded a 156-140 success.

Adele Maddison (21-12) was the best winner on the night for the Pear. Replying for Pavilions was Steve Bate who won his game 21-14.

Newly-promoted Kingswood ‘B’ took on last season’s runners-up Pavilions ‘A’ and put up a good fight before just losing out 148-130.

Graham Donnelly’s 21-13 was the best winner for Kingswood while John Geraghty and Pat Crowe (both 21-11) shone for the Lions.

With a number of games still outstandin­g in Section Two, the leaders on equal points are Subscripti­on and Egerton ‘B’.

Subscripti­on took on Kingsley ‘A’ and had a disappoint­ing night losing out 149-143 in a hard-fought clash.

Graham Jones (21-14) impressed for Kingsley with the best reply for Subscripti­on from Don Bryning (21-9).

Egerton ‘B’ took on league newcomers Grapes ‘C’ and were victorious 154-129.

The best win on the night was recorded by Pat Cooney (21-8) while Sonny Henderson’s 21-13 was the best reply for the Grapes.

Egerton Memorial have a game in hand on the leaders and they travelled to take on third-placed Kingsley ‘B’ and returned with a fantastic 167-106 victory.

The outstandin­g player on the night was Ernie Ellis who won his match 21-1.

Section Three pacesetter­s Pavilions ‘C’ travelled to take on Helsby ‘D’ but went down to a 140-131 defeat.

Aaran Buckley (21-6) was the best winner for Helsby while replying for Pavilions were Diane Worthingto­n and Carol Farrow who both won their contests 21-13.

Second-placed Pavilions ‘D’ have a game in hand on the leaders and were involved in a tight encounter against third-placed Rock Park.

Pavilions eventually prevailed 150-129. Dave Stooks (21-9) led the way for Pavilions while the best reply for Rock Park was registered by Joan Fletcher (21-14). ● Tonight sees the next round of the Murphy Cup.
