Stadium’s late victories lead to success in tight clash with Millfield

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, Goldmine at home to Simms Cross Institute conceded the first game to the Stute’s Ged McPartland.

Ray O’Connor then levelled for the Goldmine (16 darts). The Stute then took the lead again via Andy Abbott, but the Goldmine were right on their tails as a win came from their opening pair, Sean Bell & Terry Roach (14 darts).

A further victory from Peter Mullally & James Holden (11 darts) took the Goldmine into the lead. This was becoming a hard-fought match as the Stute’s Brian Abbott & John Leacy made it 3-3.

A further win apiece from the Goldmine’s Terry Roach (12 and 13 darts) and the Stute’s Tony Green still kept the score level.

The outcome was decided as Sean Bell (14 and 13 darts) took the final game and the match for the Goldmine.

Halton Stadium at home to Millfield took first game through Barry Stanners (11 darts).

The Millfield levelled via Ian Wall, then took the lead with a win from Alan Sutton (14 darts). The Stadium then levelled through their opening pair, John Bowles & Alan Magee.

A further win apiece from the Millfield’s Alan Sutton & Brian Dutton (16 darts) and the Stadium’s Tony Jackson & John Kilkenny (17 darts) made it 3-3.

The Stadium then grabbed a further two games through Joe Price (17 and 15 darts) and Eddie Dootson (13 darts) to give them the match with one game still to play.

The Millfield’s Mike Howard then took the final game (15 darts) but it was just a consolatio­n.

Mill Brow SC at home to Widnes Cricket Club took the first game through Neil Platt. Rob Morris then levelled for the Cricket Club.

Chris Bright then took the Brow ahead again, and once again the Cricket Club levelled, this time through their opening pair, Rob Morris & Kev Baxter.

However, this was where their luck ran out, as the Mill Brow SC surged forward, taking the remaining five games and the match through Dave Powell & Paul Linger, Carl Hackney & Paul Woodward (16 darts), Alan Friar, Dave Powell (14 darts) and Paul Linger.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Wellington secured the first game through Tommy Robertson.

Ste Whitfield then levelled for the Wellington before a further two wins from teammates Anthony Hall (13 and 18 darts and opening pair, Anthony Hall & Karl Whitfield took them ahead.

The Bowler recovered a point via Joe Batty & Scott Grady (10 darts), only to see the Wellington’s Ste Whitfield & Jimmy Holden claim the next game. That was as good as it got for them, however, as Widnes Bowling Club took the remaining three games and the match via Scott Grady (15 darts), Joe Batty and Alex McGill.
