ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

Mill Brow SC at home to the Hammer & Pincers took the first two games through Jack Dunn (180) and Dean Birks. The Hammer responded with a win from Merv Grady. That was as good as it got for them as the Mill Brow SC stormed ahead taking the remaining six games and the match via Jack Dunn & Brian Spruce (114 checkout), Dave Powell & Chris Bright and Paul Linger & Eric Peel in the pairs followed by Paul Linger, Mark Harrison and Dave Powell (17 and 18 darts) in the singles.

The Millfield at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first two games to the visitors’ Tony Jackson and Joe Kelly (15 darts and 180). The Millfield levelled with two in a row from Ian Wall and opening pair Billy Fox & Brian Dutton. This parity was not to last as Halton Stadium surged ahead, taking the final five games and the match via Kevin Garcia & Eddie Dootson (15 darts) and John Bowles & Joe Kelly in the pairs backed up by John Bowles (19 darts), Kevin Garcia (19 darts, 180 and 138 checkout) and Eddie Dootson in the last of the singles games.

Simms Cross Institute at home to the Goldmine had an awful night as the visitors won all nine games via Karl Windisch (17 darts and 180), Chris Hough and Josh Bury in the singles followed by pairs Sean Bell & Terry Roach (19 and 15 darts), Mike Callaghan & Sean Littler and Karl Windisch (180) & Chris Hough (16 darts) and Barry Noonan, James Holden (180) and Sean Littler in the final singles.

Widnes Bowling Club hosting the Wellington conceded the first two games to the visitors’ Ste Whitfield (18 darts) and Anthony Hall.

Wins from the Bowler’s Dave Pickles and pair Scott Grady & Joe Batty levelled the score. The Wellington then went ahead, taking three games in a row via Anthony Hall & Kath Conway, Karl Whitfield & John Barber and Karl Whitfield to secure their match victory. The Bowler’s Joe Batty took the penultimat­e contest whilst Mark Tyrer wrapped up a 6-3 win for the Wellington.
