Street dancers scoop UK cheerleading title

AWIDNES dance team put in a performance spirited enough to claim an award at the UK Cheerleading Association Spring Championships in Manchester last Sunday.
Dancers aged from six to 39 travelled to the championships with the Eclipse Street Dance Cheer Team, and every one of them was eager to show the routines they had perfected through months of practice and preparation.
They completed three routines in three different age categories and dazzled with their performances, the choreography and their jaw-dropping costumes.
The highlight of the day came when the Widnes team were announced as the winner of the Spirit Award, the most coveted award of the day.
Jacqueline Agate from Eclipse Street Dance Cheer Team said that the Spirit Award is awarded to the team that demonstrates the true values of team spirit above all else.
She said: “The Eclipse Street Dance Cheer Team had cheered each and every competitor tirelessly for nine whole hours, regardless of their club.
“This had not gone unnoticed, and Eclipse Street Dance Cheer had won the Spirit Award!”
Mrs Agate called the day a tremendously successful and proud one for Eclipse Street Dance Cheer Team.
She said: “Eclipse Street Dance Cheer was showcased in Runcorn Shopping City on Friday, June 1.
They will also be in bagpacking in Asda Widnes on June 16 and will soon be auditioning for Halton’s Got Talent.
