Serial thief jailed for store spree while under orders
A SERIAL thief has been sentenced to 13 weeks behind bars, three suspended, following a string of petty thefts across Widnes and Runcorn and failures to comply with court orders.
Gareth John Hutton, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court.
Hutton, 37, was under the requirements of a community order when he committed the offences.
He stole meat worth £56 from Co-op in Runcorn on Sunday, June 3, and alcohol worth £4.85 and food valuing £18.60 from Spar in Widnes on Monday, June 11.
Finally on Thursday, June 21, he stole meat and coffee worth £39.31 from Aldi in Widnes. Hutton was sentenced to a total of eight weeks in prison having pleaded guilty to all the counts of theft.
He received a further two weeks for committing the offences whilst under a period of supervision following release from prison.
Hutton was given three more weeks in prison, suspended for six months, for reoffending while under a suspended sentence.
