Students rub shoulders with royalty at festival

-

YEAR 12 students from St Chad’s Catholic And Church Of England High School, Runcorn were invited to attend the International Business Festival at the Albert Dock in Liverpool.

The students, accompanied by deputy head Debbie Burke, took part in the Future Transport day on June 19.

The students had the opportunity to visit the promotional stands, to speak to the delegates attending the festival and to take full advantage of the activities on offer.

The students spent the morning in the Next Generation Pod where they thought about their strengths and areas for development, considered future career options and talked about their aspirations and dreams.

They were then involved in a workshop during which they had to come up with a new product and pitch it to the other groups, thinking about marketing and a slogan for the product.

The students approached this activity with great enthusiasm and were among the first groups to present their particular inventions.

The highlight of the day was HRH Prince William’s visit to the Next Generation Pod where he took the time to mix with and chat to the students.

All of the students were able to speak to the prince who asked them questions about what they had been ● doing during the day and what their plans were after sixth form.

He was particularly interested in one group’s product, explained to him by Michael Welch, which would automatically tune a guitar, as he felt that this would improve the standard of his playing!

The students were delighted to have had the opportunity to meet and speak to the prince who was genuinely interested in what they had to tell him.
