New frontier for respected home care company

-

A HOME care company established by a Widnes and Runcorn family is expanding into Halton.

Support At Homes was created in 2011 by Nicola and Wayne Beal, of Runcorn, and Nicola’s parents Janet and Brian Powell, of Widnes.

It provides services including personal care, medication assistance, meal preparation, companionship, shopping calls and housework.

From humble family business origins operating with a support worker team consisting of Nicola and Janet, the firm has now grown to 76 staff and 100 customers.

Support At Home is rated ‘good’ across all categories by the Care Quality Commission.

Michelle Unsworth of Support At Home said the company is proud to have crossed the £1m turnover mark last year with that feat expected to be repeated this year.

She said its decision to begin offering work in Halton followed a slew of enquiries from potential clients including discharge teams, social workers, family members of existing customers asking on behalf of another relative and also from those who have learned of the company via word of mouth.

The Halton service started on Monday, and the company is due to attend a health and care event at Shopping City in Runcorn from Monday, August 13, to Thursday, August 16.

It is also recruiting for full-time, part-time, evening and weekend roles.

Michelle said: “It’s at the very top of our list to deliver real personcentred care, and it’s also important to us to find out the likes, dislikes, needs and wants of both our staff and our customers – our customers’ happiness is paramount, and we understand that the key to this is by attracting fabulous staff and doing everything we can to look after them and to keep them with us.

“In terms of us branching out to Halton, word is spreading about us and the excellent service that we provide so much that we have been receiving phone calls every day from the Halton area, asking for us to provide care.

“We decided that we needed to be able to help out, as it has broken our hearts to have to turn people away and not be able to provide our care.” ●
