Howzat! Air ambulance makes safe landing
MEMBERS of Runcorn Sports Club on Moughland got a surprise visitor when the North West Air Ambulance had to use their cricket pitch as an emergency helicopter landing pad.
An incident in the local area required the assistance of the air ambulance and Runcorn’s pitch proved a safe landing area. sun. Runcorn opener Lewitt got the early breakthrough his side desperately needed when he had Mubashir Hassan caught by Ben Clissold in the deep for eight with the score on 13.

Lee, the pilot, was obviously a cricket fan as he kindly landed on the outfield and not the square!
As paramedics Janet Towers and Nikki Hewitt attended the incident, members made Lee the pilot very welcome and offered him some refreshment, which he declined as he was driving.
North West second of the match, clean bowling Jack Gittins for five, leaving Christleton rocking on 23-2.
If Runcorn thought the game was all but over they were in for a rude awakening as Christleton’s big hitter, Joshua Joseph, came in and pro- Ambulance is a registered charity which relies on public donations. Having helped to put nearly 90 runs on, Christleton lost two quick wickets. First to go was Atif Bajwa for 37, caught by Wells off Matty Tyrrell’s bowling. Then next – and more importantly – Tyrrell had Joseph brilliantly caught on the boundary by Dan Booth.
At 120-4 Runcorn were back in the game and wickets continued to fall regularly.
With the away supporters sensing the first victory of the season, Christleton decided to try and block out and go for the draw.
But with the score on 176 it was left to Shaun Lewitt to claim his fourth wicket of the match and signal celebrations amongst the team and supporters when he cleaned bowled Christleton’s no 11 bat Adam Gittins.
Let’s hope this signals a change of fortune for Runcorn during the second half of the season. ● Runcorn 2nds’ game against Woodford was called off as Woodford could not raise a team.
Runcorn got the 25 points as a result.
The 3rds game against Caldy was also called off.
This weekend Runcorn 1st X1 are at home to Northwich, while the 2nd X1 travel to Oakmere. Both games start at 1pm.
The 3rd X1 are at home to Tattenhall on Sunday; their game starts at 2pm.
