Burglary alert after break-in

FARNWORTH residents are urged to be vigilant after a burglary in the area.

The burglary occurred on Tuesday, September 4, and police circulated an alert encouragin­g residents to exercise caution.

Widnes Police tweeted a picture of a flyer sent to residents, and said: “Thieves are operating in your area namely Gleneagles Drive, Farnworth. Male found intruder inside his home yesterday between 1500-1530 hrs. Items stolen.”

The flyer said: “A burglary has recently occurred in your immediate area.

“Please ensure your property is secure and that you are vigilant of any suspicious activity in the area.

“If you have any informatio­n regarding this crime please ring Cheshire police on 101.

“Many burglars are opportunis­ts, take the appropriat­e steps in your home to help prevent becoming a victim of crime.”

Cheshire Constabula­ry said: “The incident is alleged to have occurred sometime between 3pm and 3.30pm on 4/9/18.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing and anyone with any informatio­n is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting 1810027678­1.”

Residents were given advice on securing their homes by Widnes Police.

They said: “Use automatic timers to switch on lights when you are out.

“Fit outdoor lights with movement sensors.

“Keep valuables out of sight of windows.

“Close and lock all doors and windows when you go out. “Keep keys out of sight. “Lock all side and rear gates. “Have an alarm fitted and make sure it is working correctly.”
