Exciting races set for Oulton

-

STARTING tomorrow is the opening round of the crucial Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown at Oulton Park, with ‘Pocket Rocket’ Leon Haslam keen to maintain the momentum he has built up and lift the 2018 crown after last year’s disappointment.

Haslam and Jake Dixon are already confirmed in the Showdown top six.

It’s been a rollercoaster season with a string of different podium finishers, and a host of riders are still mathematically capable of making the cut. ●

The picturesque Cheshire circuit once again hosts the first of three Showdown rounds, with the top six riders going all-out to take the title from six-time winner Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne.

An injury in testing has seen him sidelined for much of the season, leaving the door open for others to take advantage of his absence.

Bradley Ray scored two wins on the opening weekend of the 2018 season at a rain-soaked Donington Park but had to wait until round eight at Cadwell Park for a return visit to the podium.

Meanwhile, Dixon has been steadily picking up points with a string of podium finishes and Josh Brookes’s double win at Brands Hatch and a win at Thruxton have put him in a strong position.

Expect plenty of fireworks when the final six take to the track at Oulton Park, alongside a superb line-up of support races including the Pirelli National Superstock 600 and 1000 and Dickies British Supersport. ● For further information please call 0843-453 9000.
