Stute’s six in a row so pivotal

-

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Martindale Cup pre-lims took place.

At the Mersey Hotel, the Cricketers Arms locked horns with the Simms Cross Institute.

The Stute’s Ged McPartland took the first game. Ian Connor then levelled for the Cricketers who then went ahead with a further win from Paul Mason.

That was as good as it got for the Cricketers Arms, however, as Simms Cross Institute stormed ahead taking the remaining six games and the match through Brian Dutton & Glyn Owen, Andy Abbott & Ged McPartland and Mick Cullen & Dave Evans in the pairs, whilst in the singles, Glyn Owen, Brian Dutton and Mick Cullen finished off the rout.

At Widnes Cricket Club, Widnes Cricket Club entertained the Mersey Hotel and claimed the first game through, B Hewitt.

JWA Cotty then levelled for the Mersey. The Cricket Club took the next three games through Billy Cain, and pairs, Adam Mellor & Danny Mellor and Rob Morris & Billy Cain.

The Mersey kept themselves in with a chance as Ray Cowley & JWA Cotty won the next game. The Cricket Club, however, had other ideas as Adam Mellor scuppered the Mersey’s chances, even though Dave Cotterill won the penultimate game for the Mersey.

Ernie Griffiths then took the final game for the already-victorious Widnes Cricket Club.
