Stadium’s Kelly wins a classic

ON Monday night the Widnes & District Darts League 501 League commenced for the 2018-19 season.

The Ball at home to Widnes Bowling Club took the first game through Anthony Hall. Alex McGill (18 darts and 130 finish) then levelled for the Bowler. Widnes Bowling Club then went on to take the remaining seven games and the match via Scott Grady (16 darts), Joe Batty & Scott Grady (17 darts), Scott Byrne & Phil Corless, Andy Beddows & Harry Ellis, Joe Batty, Dave Pickles and Dave Gerrard.

The Goldmine at home to Simms Cross Institute conceded the first game to the visitors’ Paul Batty (19 darts and 180). The Goldmine then levelled through Chris Hough. The Goldmine went on to take the next five games via Lee Hayes, Sean Bell & Terry Roach, Mike Callaghan & Josh Bury, Jack Dunn & Anton Conroy and Adam Mullally confirming their match victory. The Stute’s Andy Abbott and Glyn Owen (19 darts) took the final two games, but they were merely consolatio­ns.

Halton Stadium at home the Millfield saw the visitors’ Ian Wall take the first game.

John Kilkenny (17 darts) then levelled things up for the Stadium, and a further win from teammate Colin Rigby took them ahead. The Millfield came back with a win from Ian Wall & Billy Fox. The Stadium’s Kenny Murphy & Barry Stanners took the Stadium ahead, but not for long as Mike Howard & Chris Hall levelled for the Millfield.

A further win apiece from the Stadium’s Tony Jackson and the Millfield’s Mike Howard made the score 4-4.

The outcome was resolved as Joe Kelly (180) took the final game and the match for the Halton Stadium.

Hammer & Pincers at home to the Mill Brow SC started the season badly as the Mill Brow SC secured all nine games. Paul Linger, Darren Attwood and Mark Harrison won in the singles followed by pairs Dave Powell & Charles Roberts, Neil Platt & Eric Peel and Darren Attwood & Mark Harrison. Brian Spruce, Dave Powell and Neil Platt then won the remaining singles.
