Road rage row driver injured

-

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a van driver was injured in an apparent road rage row.

The man was involved in an ‘altercation’ with a Jaguar driver on the hard shoulder of the Weston Point Expressway, in Runcorn – just after the M56 exit.

Detectives now want to speak to anyone who saw the roadside clash – said to have left the van driver ‘shaken up’.

The two drivers had both exited the M56 and stopped on the hard shoulder of the Expressway, near the slip road leading toward Rocksavage power plant.

The victim, a 52-year-old man from Runcorn who had been driving a silver Vauxhall Vivaro Combi van, suffered a minor injury and went to hospital following the incident.

Cheshire police now want to speak to the driver of the second vehicle, a vintage black Jaguar, as part of their enquiries.

The driver is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s who was wearing a baseball cap and a grey top.

A woman, who police would also like to speak to, was in the car with him.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may have dashcam footage of it. It took place at 1.25pm last Friday, September 21.

Detective Constable Dan Williams said: “The incident has left the driver of the van extremely shaken up. Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may be able to help us establish exactly what happened.”
