-

A CAR was spotted fleeing towards Runcorn after a burglary in Frodsham.

Detectives have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident, which happened at around 8.05am last Thursday, September 20.

A Cheshire police spokeswoman said the victim had discovered a stranger in the dining room at a house on High Street in Frodsham.

The woman pursued him and the man fled via a back door.

She chased him onto Albert Row then towards High Street, where a passenger in a silver car, believed to be either a Volkswagen Polo or Golf, gestured at him.

The car sped off towards Runcorn as the woman continued to pursue the man, who was carrying items taken from the house – including a handbag, cash and a laptop.

The woman chased him to Alexandra Mews where she called to three builders, one of whom grabbed the man.

Witnesses have been urged to come forward or submit dashcam footage from the area that might show the car.

Three men – a 54-year-old from Oldham, a 42-year-old of no fixed address and a 39-year-old from Oldham – have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Manson said: “Burglary is a serious offence that targets people in the place they should be able to feel most safe – their own home.

“Being the victim of a burglary is a deeply upsetting experience and it is even more traumatic when it occurs while you are at home.

“In this case the woman has been left extremely shaken up by the incident.”
