1,700 attend Wade Deacon open event
WADE Deacon High School opened its doors to prospective new students and their families at its much anticipated open evening.
And it certainly was a busy night for the Birchfield Road school with 1,000 visitors through the doors in the first 10 minutes – a Wade Deacon record and a total of 1,700plus attending throughout the evening.
And guests were not disappointed with every faculty area providing a host of interactive activities giving a real insight into the Wade Deacon experience.
Families even had the chance to sample the range of meals and snacks that Wade Deacon students enjoy on a daily basis which went down a treat!
Highlights of the night included the English Fac- ulty’s tableau of Satis House from Great Expectations which was wondrous, the Beatles inspired theme in music and performance as well as First World War re-enactments in history and gruesome dissections in science.
Art & design encouraged Year 6 to design Matisse motifs and modern Foreign languages’ Parisian café was something to behold.
Theatrical performances in drama, personalised plants in design technology, mathematical mocktails, ecosystem expeditions in geography and every sport imaginable in PE were other snapshots from the event.
Twins Harry and Charlie Walker who attend Spinney Avenue Primary School absolutely loved the night
They said: “We loved getting stuck in to all of the activities and felt ● really comfy talking to the students and teachers who were so friendly. “It was brilliant.”
