IN BUSINESS Barrie lands job with ambulance service

-

THE Vikings Learning Centre graduate Barrie Shuker has gained a full-time job with West Midlands Ambulance Service, thanks to his Employability Skills course.

Barrie passed both Level 1 and Level 2 before going on to land full-time employment, and praised the influence of the Vikings Learning Centre.

“The course helped a great deal in preparing me for interviews,” he commented.

“What was covered in the classes was very relevant and I was asked the questions that we had practiced on.

“If anybody from the Learning Centre is applying for jobs now or in the future, don’t get disheartened as it took around eight months from me being accepted at the interview to starting my training.

“I just want to say thank you to Charlotte for all of her help and hope the Learning Centre can continue the good work.”

Education Officer, Charlotte Jakeman, added: “It was great to have been contacted by Barrie and hear about his success since leaving the Vikings Learning Centre.

“He was a dedicated learner who always worked hard towards achieving his goals, and it was only a matter of time before he secured employment.

“Our aim is to ready all of our learners for employment, and to see this being achieved is really pleasing.”

The Vikings Learning Cen- ● tre, delivered in partnership with club partners Riverside College and Well North, aims to provide learners who are out of education and employment with relevant qualifications to kick-start their working journey.

This is done through the delivery of four courses that give learners fantastic work experience opportunities, thanks to the co-operation of partner businesses, which often lead to part-time and full-time employment.

There are also opportunities to gain experience by working for the Vikings, with placements available within the two Vikings stores as well as in the Club’s office or within the Community Coaching team.

All four courses are delivered from the Halton Stadium, giving learners the chance to take advantage of the iPitch as well as the Delivered Health Solutions Performance Centre.

Learners are given the chance to access relevant qualifications in a relaxed and informal environment, with small class sizes providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
