ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

The Ball at home to the Mersey Hotel were in control from the start as they brought home the first four games.

It started with Ste Whitfield (16 darts) followed by Martin Ball, and in the pairs it continued with James Holden & Ste Whitfield. The Mersey responded, recovering two points via Callum Taylor & Sharon Unsworth and Paul Cotty & Rob Cotty. The next game went to the Ball’s Barry Highfield, whose win ensured the Ball’s victory. This was no consolation to the Mersey as Ray Cowley gave them the penultimate game before Scott Deveny gave the Ball the final contest to seal a 6-3 victory.

Farnworth SC at home to Hough Green SC took an early lead with two in a row from Keith Allen and Carl Bryan (10 darts). Hough Green came back to level with two of their own via Paul Woods (19 darts) and opening pair, Derek Turton & Paul Woods.

Farnworth’s John Leather & Matty Fisher took them ahead, but Hough Green were on their tails as a win from Dave McIntosh & Tony Barker levelled the score. Both teams were equally determined as a further win apiece from Farnworth’s Trevor Chadwick (15 darts) and Hough Green’s Tony Barker made it 4-4.

The outcome was then resolved as Russ Hardman took the final game and the match for Hough Green SC.

Widnes Bowling Club ‘A’ at home to the Goldmine, saw the visitors’ Jack Dunn (17 darts) take the first game.

Alex McGill levelled for the Bowler before a further two wins from Phil Corless and opening pair, Dave Gerrard & Andy Beddows took them into the lead. The Goldmine’s Sean Bell & Lee Hayes recovered a point, only to see the Bowler’s Joe Batty & Scott Grady edge closer to the finish line.

However, the Goldmine had other ideas as they rallied to take the remaining three games and the match through Lee Hayes, Sean Bell and Peter Mullally.

Halton Stadium at home to Widnes Bowling Club ‘B’ conceded the first game to the Bowler’s Dave Cowan.

The Stadium then levelled through Neil Ward. The Bowler’s Dave Pickles took his team ahead, and again the Stadium levelled, this time through, Eddie Dootson & John Bowles (15 darts).

A further two wins followed from Joe Kelly & Tony Jackson (15 darts) and Joe Price & Barry Stanners. A win from the Bowler’s Jeff Thompson stopped the Stadium in their tracks, but not for long as the Stadium’s Tony Jackson (12 darts) took the vital fifth point in the penultimate game.

The Bowler’s Alan Pennington won the final game but it was just a consolation.

Mill Brow SC at home to Widnes Cricket Club got off to a good start taking three in a row as Chris Bright, Neil Platt and Mark Harrison all won in the singles.

The Cricket Club replied, taking a point through their opening pair, Billy Webb & Ernie Griffiths. The Brow were on good form as they took the next two games via Chris Bright & Paul Woodward and Eric Peel & Kevin Helps.

Billy Webb (10 darts) gave the Cricket Club a further point but the already victorious Mill Brow SC won the final two games through, Brian Spruce and Dave Powell to wrap up a 7-2 success.

Millfield at home to the Cricketers Arms started badly, conceding the first three games to the visitors’ Graham Fenney, Paul Mason and Owen Batty.

However, the Millfield came back with a vengeance claiming the six remaining games and the match through Ian Wall & Alan Sutton (18 darts), Michael Howard & Jamie Donegan and Billy Fox & Dave Jones in the pairs, followed by Billy Fox, Dave Jones and Darren Attwood in the final set of singles contests.
