Moore strike back in style with an 11-try haul to demolish Carrington

-

Moore 71 Carrington 14 MOORE roared back from last week’s disappointing loss in the best possible style, running in 11 tries in a great victory over Carrington.

Facing an admittedly under-strength Carrington side, Moore were able to display some excellent handling and offloading skills to create try after try.

With a number of changes in the Moore backline due to unavailability, Matt Bradshaw started his first game at fly-half and controlled the flow very handily.

The centre partnership of Joe Long and Nathan Taylor also dovetailed well. Long provided the muscle and bullied his way over the gain line time and again. Taylor provided the pace and excellent footwork on the way to scoring three tries.

With Moore looking much more composed with ball in hand than recent weeks, the team were able to find gaps across the field and exploit them well, with a number of tries being scored from breaks.

A far more disciplined approach from the Moore forwards also saw the team able to consistently steal Carrington lineout ball and cope with a far larger opposition pack well.

What was impressive was the intensity that Moore were able to play at, and hopes will be that it can be replicated for the rest of the season.

Alongside Taylor’s three tries, there were five-pointers also scored by Sam Craven (2), Joe Pidgeon (2), Dan Carney (2), Jack Harvey and Matt Griffiths.

Craven also booted over eight conversions.

The win sees Moore return to mid-table having won two and lost two of their first four matches this season.

Moore grabbed an early lead with scores from Adam Parsons and Adam Bagnall to race ahead 12-0 before Warrington were able to get back in the game to nudge in front 14-12. However, tries from Ash Wakefield and Ian Bradbury saw Moore take the victory on the day.
