Calling hardy soles: can you take the heat for a vital cause?

-

● BRAVE soles are being sought to walk on hot coals in aid of Halton Haven in Runcorn.

The firewalk will pit members of the public against facing red-hot wood embers at a temperature of around 425°C.

Registration is now open and will run until the event itself.

Taking place on the evening of Thursday, November 15, at the hospice in Murdishaw, the firewalk itself will be built by firewalk company Time 4 Change.

Cliff Mann, of Time 4 Change, will also run a pre-firewalk workshop for all participants in which full training and preparation will be given.

A Halton Haven spokesman said Cliff has been organising firewalks for over 20 years and has a 100% safety record.

All the proceeds will support the hospice and its work providing endof-life and palliative care.

Registration for the firewalk is £25 and the hospice and participants have been asked to do their best to raise at least £75 in sponsorship.

Chris Andrews of Halton Haven said: “This firewalk is going to be incredible. It’s a pretty unique event and something which doesn’t come around often.

“A firewalk is an experience you never forget.

“I did one myself in 2005 and it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever done.

“I urge anyone considering it to get signed up now, or contact us for a chat and we’ll answer any questions or concerns you have. “We’re also incredibly grateful to Display Team for coming on board as event sponsors.

“They do so much for the Haven and we’re thrilled we can partner up with them on this event.”
