Video sought in murder probe

-

DETECTIVES investigating the death of Runcorn teenager Eddie O’Rourke have appealed for video footage connected to the incident.

Eddie O’Rourke, 18, died after suffering a suspected stab wound outside the Halton Royal British Legion on Castle Road in Halton Village, Runcorn, on the evening of Friday, September 7.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance but passed away.

Detectives say there may be mobile phone footage of the incident and have urged anyone who has any to call Cheshire police on 101, quoting IML 177899.

Footage can also be submitted to police directly via the dashcam portal at https:// cheshireconstabulary. egressforms.com, which accepts other forms of video.

Two boys from Runcorn, aged 17 and 15, have been charged with murder in connection with Eddie’s death and are due to stand trial on March 5 next year after pleading not guilty on Tuesday, October 9.

The case is expected to be heard over three weeks before a High Court judge, to be named.

At their plea hearing, the older defendant also denied a charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a knife, with the younger of the two expected to plead over the same charge before the trial starts.

A third teenage boy from Runcorn, aged 16, was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly and released on conditional bail pending further enquiries shortly after the investigation was opened last month.

None of the teenagers can be named for legal reasons.

Detective Inspector Adam Waller said: “If anyone filmed the incident or has been sent a video of it I urge them to send us the footage.”
