Bell chimes in with a timely triumph for Goldmine to edge out Stute

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued with round six being played.

The Millfield at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first game to the Stadium’s Alan Magee.

Ian Wall then levelled for the Millfield. Neil Ward took the Stadium ahead, but again the Millfield rallied, this time through their opening pair, Alan Sutton & Ian Wall.

That was to be as good as it got for the Millfield as the Stadium took the remaining five games and the match through Alan Magee & John Bowles (18 darts), Tony Jackson & Mike Callaghan (17 darts), Mike Callaghan, Tony Jackson (19 darts) and Colin Rigby (18 darts).

Widnes Cricket Club at home to Farnworth SC started badly as they conceded the first five games to Farnworth’s Trevor Chadwick (15 darts), Ian Sharples, Dave Herley, Paul Smith & Alan Rigby and Carl Bryan & Keith Allen thereby condemning them to defeat.

The Cricket Club’s Danny Mellor & Ben Hewitt took the next game, only to see John Leather add to Farnworth’s tally. The Cricket Club then took the remaining two games through Rob Morris and Danny Mellor, but they were just consolatio­ns in the end.

Widnes Bowling Club ‘B’ at home to the Ball took the first game through Dave Batty (19 darts).

The Ball then levelled via Martin Ball (19 darts), before going ahead through Ste Whitfield. The Bowler levelled with a win from their opening pair, Ste Kelly & Alan Pennington.

The Ball then claimed the next three games to ensure their match victory.

Chris Ellis secured the penultimat­e game for the Bowler, whilst Peter Jerram (16 darts) added a further win to the Ball’s already victorious tally.

The Goldmine at home to Simms Cross Institute conceded the first two games to the Stute through Ged McPartland (15 darts) and Ray Dutton.

The Goldmine came back to level via Jack Dunn (14 darts) and opening pair, Sean Bell & Raymond O’Connor.

Dave Evans & Glyn Owen (15 darts) then took the Stute ahead, but not for long as the Goldmine’s Adam Mullally & James Holden levelled again, before Antony Conroy put them into the lead.

The Stute were still in with a chance as Dave Evans won to make it 4-4.

The outcome was resolved as Sean Bell (15 darts) took the final game and the match for the Goldmine.

Hough Green SC at home to the Mersey Hotel took the first game through Duane Lawton. Danny Davidson then levelled for the Mersey.

Russ Hardman then nudged Hough Green ahead, but the Mersey were on a roll as they claimed the next three games through Paul Cotty & Danny Cotterill, JWA Cotty & Danny Davidson and Sharon Unsworth & John Cotty.

Hough Green’s Keith Glover took the next game, but the Mersey were in control as they took the final two games and the match through Paul Cotty (12 darts) and Sharon Unsworth to wrap up a 6-3 success.
